History
How did the Miss Hoosier Heartland Program Begin……..
The Kokomo area has been home to six different Miss America preliminaries, with Miss Kokomo in the 1970s, Miss Kokomo Haynes Apperson in the 1980s to the mid-1990s, Miss City of Firsts into the 21st century, Miss Hoosier Heartland beginning in 2005, in 2008 an additional title was added to the program; Miss White River Valley, and in 2009 the Miss White River Valley title was changed to Miss Hoosier Valley. The name change was voted on by 2009 contestants to help better serve the additional counties that were added to our program. (Benton, Newton and Warren). Both titles encompass twelve counties; Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Miami, Montgomery, Newton, Tippecanoe, Tipton and Warren. Title-holders of these programs and their awards at the Miss Indiana Scholarship Program have included:
